Creating An Empowering Culture
For many organisations, their effectiveness, and even their competitiveness, is based around the leaderships' ability to get the best out of their people.
A decade of research into how successful organisations empower their people and how they enable them to take ownership for their role and their responsibilities, has identified that there is a structure needed if empowerment is going to work.
Management vs. Leadership
Research shows that many people move into management roles by progression. People get promoted because they have been in the job for a period of time or they are good at the job. This assumption is dangerous and often does not work. Although very effective as an employee, they now become ineffective as a manager and even if their management ability is satisfactory, they are unable to be a leader.
This session will look at the difference between managing and leading. What are the characteristics of a manger and beyond management, what does leadership and a leader need? Defining the characteristics and competencies of a managers and leaders rather than set them up for failure.
Mindset of a Leader
Successful organisations understand the need to develop leaders. However the common view is that managers manage people. So, what do leaders do that makes them successful as leaders?
In this session we will get onto the mind-set of a leader and discover what & why they behave the way do. Participants will gain an insight into the thinking processes needed to lead effectively and in understanding these processes allows self analysis and reflection on motivational influences.
When Culture Affects the Bottom Line
What are the real values that drive the organisation? These are not the values you see written on the wall or in the Annual Report. These are the attitudes that people at all levels have about their job, their manager, their people and even customers. When an attitude is prevailing in that organisation/department, then the whole department is liable to either benefit or be limited by that attitude.
